they had light inside

Choreographed by Faith Rokowski

Set during the end of the world, this work explores what our inherent humanity would look like if it was no longer a product of our society. Life is worth living because of the people you surround yourself with, and that desire for human connection does not disappear just because the circumstances around that connection change.

The work focuses on communal human desires of survival, loss, grief, and regret while additionally unpacking what it means to connect with your community when you’re the only ones left through love, rebirth, and the sharing of trauma.

The original work premiered in May 2023 at 28 minutes, but the restaged work premiered in February 2024 with an expanded runtime of 38 minutes and featuring 3 new sections.
