Constructive Interference

Choreographed by Meghan Letizia

At each life stage, age, and experience, we are ever-changing beings – living as infinite different versions of ourselves. This piece explores the present self’s relationship to the past selves, and how we hold those versions in our current body and mind. When delving into these parts of ourselves, it can bring up complex feelings: shame, fear, embarrassment, but also nostalgia, excitement, pride, empathy, celebration, and love. This work poses the questions: How do we presently forgive our past selves for doing what they could with what they had? What does it look like when we face the histories and memories we are afraid to look at – sometimes because it hurts too much to look at the painful, but sometimes because it hurts too much to look at the good? Who and what helped us to move forward? How do we unite every version of ourselves to feel internal harmony—what would it look like to feel unity, to feel a sense of community, within yourself?
